Dhaka, Broadcasting News Corporation:Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq Thursday said the government provided legal aids to 1,71,849 people till April 2016.
“The government has undertaken initiatives to reduce the number of pending cases and the National Legal Aid Service Organisation provided free of cost legal aids to 1,33,948 people till April 2016,” he said replying to a question from treasury bench member Begum Sanjida Khanam.
He said a total of 30,364 jailed people received legal support from the government and 18,023 civil and 34,501 criminal cases were resolved through legal aids.
A total of 13,053 people received legal advices, while district legal aid officers conducted/resolved 1,125 cases through alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and the number of beneficiaries of the cases are 2,067 and the amount of realized money was Taka 1,50,17,300,” the minister added.
