NEW DELHI, Broadcasting News Corporation:Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal Friday called for working together to build a regional economic bloc for optimum use of resources to steer economic progress of South Asian countries.
“South Asian countries should strengthen their unity to expedite economic growth….All south Asian nations are very potential to gain more economic progress, if we can develop our people as best human resources” he told a regional economic conference here.
World Economic Forum (DEF) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) jointly organized the conference, an official release said.
Ministers, officials and businessmen from different countries attended the conference.
Kamal said, “There are huge potentiality in field of hydro-power among Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and India. These countries should strengthen their bonds to promote hydro power for ensuring better contribution to economy.”
Highlighting economic progresses of Bangladesh under dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said the country has witnessed remarkable progresses despite global economic recession.
Bangladesh has achieved impressive progress in different indicators of poverty reduction, Kamal added.
