Chapainawabganj, Broadcasting News Corporation: The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested a drug trafficker along with 24 bottles of Indian intoxicating syrup from the Bilvatia border area in Shibganj Upazila of Chapainawabganj.

The arrested individual’s name is Md. Nurul Haque (40). He is the son of the late Debas Ali from Uttar Sukimpur village in the upazila.

According to BGB sources, although drug traffickers tried to smuggle drugs by changing routes through the Daipukuria Union border area, they were ultimately caught by the BGB. On Tuesday (December 30, 2025) at approximately 4:45 AM, a special patrol team from the Bilvatia BOP apprehended him about 50 yards inside Bangladesh from border pillar 190/3-S.

BGB stated that legal procedures are ongoing regarding the incident.

Regarding this, Lt. Colonel Golam Kibria, BGBM, BGOAM, the commander of Mahananda Battalion (59 BGB), confirmed the authenticity of the incident and said that no matter how much drug traffickers change their tactics, BGB’s strict operations to prevent all types of drug trafficking will continue.
