Dhaka, Broadcasting News Corporation : President Md. Abdul Hamid has given the following message on the occasion of the 18th Annual Convention and Scientific Seminar 2022 :
‘‘I am delighted to know that Kidney Foundation Hospital and Research Institute, Bangladesh is organizing the ‘18th Annual Convention and Scientific Seminar’ on 26-27 November, 2022 in collaboration with Royal London Hospital, UK as a Sister Renal Center (SRC) program of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN). The theme of the seminar this year is acute kidney failure, with a special emphasis on snake bite.
Being a tropical country, Sighting of venomous snake and fatality from snake bite is very common in Bangladesh. Every year in Bangladesh many people especially the young working-class die from snake bites. Consequently often result in acute kidney failure. Besides, unhealthy lifestyle, indiscriminate use of painkillers and antibiotics, consumption of adulterated food, obesity etc. are also key factors for increasing the incidence of kidney disease. Prevention by increased awareness, regular health check-ups, avoidance of unnecessary drugs can lead to a future with healthier people.
The Annual Convention and Scientific Seminar creates a unique opportunity for the participants from both home and abroad to share their experiences and learn from the experts to develop new ideas and techniques in the treatment and prevention of acute kidney failure. I sincerely hope that this seminar will help progress the management of kidney disease in Bangladesh by disseminating knowledge amongst the participants.
