The first ever multi-sectoral technical delegation from Mozambique visits Bangladesh to develop cooperation

Dhaka, Broadcasting News Corporation : A 5-member multi-sectoral technical delegation led by Ambassador Jose Matsinha, Director General for Asia and Oceania, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Mozambique is visiting Bangladesh in order to identify potential areas of cooperation in different sectors including trade and investment. The delegation has been formed at the advice of the President of Mozambique to whom the delegation would provide feedback on the potential areas of cooperation. The delegation comprises officials of Economic and Finance Authority, Investment and Export Promotion Authority and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The delegation also includes their High Commissioner based in New Delhi. They will have a number of meetings at government Ministries as well as with private sectors. They will also visit some industrial units in Bangladesh. This is the first ever visit of such a government level delegation in Bangladesh. The President of Mozambique is due to visit Bangladesh in 2023. The visiting delegation met with Shabbir Ahmad Chowdhury, Secretary (West) of Ministry of Foreign Affairs at his office today. At the outset, Secretary (West) welcomed the Mozambican delegation to Bangladesh. He mentioned that Bangladesh government has adopted policy to enhance relations with African countries and ready to explore cooperation in different sectors including trade and economy. He underlined agreements may be concluded in promotion of trade and industries and other areas. He urged the Mozambican government to appoint an Honorary Consul in Bangladesh to foster relations. The Mozambican delegation thanked Bangladesh government for organizing the visit. Mr. Matsinha invited Bangladeshi investors to invest in Mozambique. He underscored that a general corporation agreement may be concluded and regular Foreign Office Consultations may be organized. He underlined the engagement of private sectors to develop trade and business. Secretary (West) proposed that Bangladesh entrepreneurs and farmers may establish Contract Farming in Mozambique. The Mozambican side also strongly suggested cooperation in this sector. The Secretary (West) also sought support of Mozambique for the repatriation of the forcibly displaced Rohingya people to their homeland.
