Chapainawabganj, Broadcasting News Corporation: In an operation to prevent drug smuggling at the Shibganj border in Chapainawabganj, the Border Guard Bangladesh (59 BGB) seized 102 bottles of Indian narcotic syrup.

At 4:40 am on Wednesday (December 24, 2025), based on a secret tip-off, a special patrol team of the Shiarmara BOP of the Mohananda Battalion (59 BGB) conducted the operation. Approximately one kilometer inside Bangladesh from Border Pillar 189/Main, in Jamai Para village of Daipukuria Union, Shibganj Upazila, they seized 102 bottles of Indian narcotic syrup (CHOCO+), which is used as a substitute for phensedyl.

During the operation, the smugglers escaped taking advantage of the dense fog. BGB reported that legal action is underway regarding the seized syrup.

Lieutenant Colonel Golam Kibria, BGBM, BGBOM, the commander of the 59 BGB, confirmed the authenticity of the operation and stated that BGB’s comprehensive efforts to prevent all types of drug smuggling in the border area continue.
Incidentally, in the past few days, the 59 BGB has seized a total of 722 bottles of various types of narcotic syrup, an alternative to Phensedyl, during consecutive operations in the border area.
