6 more arrested for beating and burning youth to death in Bhaluka

Police have arrested six more people in connection with the murder of Dipu Chandra (28), a garment factory worker, in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh. They were arrested on Wednesday night (December 24, 2025) after reviewing CCTV footage and video. The six will be sent to court on Thursday (December 25, 2025) noon.
The arrestees were identified as Masum Khalasi (22) of Shibchar area of Madaripur district, Selim Mia (22) of Begumganj in Noakhali district, Md Shamim Mia (28) of Tarakanda in Mymensingh district, Nur Alam (33) of Mymensingh Sadar, Ruhul Amin (42) of Baliadangi in Thakurgaon district and Takbir (22) of Jamalganj in Sunamganj district.
The deceased was identified as Dipu, a factory worker of Pioneer Knitwear (BD) Limited in Jamirdia Dubaliapara area of Bhaluka. He is the son of Rabi Chandra Das of Mokamiakanda village of Banihala union of Tarakanda upazila.
According to police, Dipu was killed in a mob lynching on Thursday night at around 9 pm. Later, the angry workers took the body to the highway and blocked it and set it on fire. On information, police rushed to the spot and dispersed the mob and recovered the body from the spot.
Police also said that a murder case was filed with Bhaluka Police Station in this connection. The victim’s younger brother Apu Chandra Das filed the case against 140-150 unidentified people.
Mymensingh District Detective Branch (DB) of Mymensingh police and Bhaluka Police Station arrested three people on Friday night, two on Saturday night and six on Wednesday night with the help of CCTV footage, video and information technology.
Abdullah Al Mamun, additional superintendent of police (administration) of Mymensingh, said the arrested accused were present at the spot and instigated the enthusiastic crowd by shouting slogans. The six arrested will be sent to court seeking remand.
