Bandarban, Broadcasting News Corporation: Director General of the Department of Mass Communication, Md. Abdul Jalil, said that regional music can play an important role in raising awareness and motivating voters. Considering this, district information offices are contributing to motivating voters for the general and parliamentary elections through folk songs composed in regional languages across the country.
The Director General made these remarks on Friday (January 30, 2026) while delivering the keynote speech at the inauguration of a music program organized via a mobile truck by the Bandarban District Information Office, aimed at raising voter awareness and motivation.
The event held in the premises of the District Commissioner’s office was presided over by District Information Officer Mohammad Anwar Hossain. Among others, the project director of the District-level Modern Information Complex Project Md. Moniruzzaman, Department of Mass Communication Director Mir Mohammad Aslam Uddin, and Syed A. Mu’men were also present.
In his speech as the chief guest, Director General of the Department of Mass Communication, Md. Abdul Jalil, said that on the occasion of the upcoming referendum and the 13th National Parliamentary Election, district information offices are continuously implementing publicity programs at the grassroots level to motivate voters and raise awareness about the referendum. Exceptional promotional activities like truck music, courtyard meetings, community meetings, young voter motivation gatherings, ten-minute briefs, vote talks, and vote rickshaws have created a widespread response among voters. Through these programs, the public is also being made aware of the code of conduct prescribed by the Election Commission.
The Director General said that under the leadership of information officers at the district level, the information offices are undertaking extensive publicity programs ahead of the referendum and national parliamentary elections. Awareness about voting rights is being generated among voters of all levels in the country, and motivation is being applied to ensure that parliamentary election candidates and participating political parties adhere to the code of conduct. He also sought the cooperation of the media to implement this publicity program and increase election-related awareness.
