Sunamganj, January 21, 2026 (Wednesday): As of the morning of Wednesday (January 21, 2026), based on specific intelligence, a coordinated joint operation was conducted by units under the 17th Infantry Division of the Bangladesh Army in Jagannathpur, Dowarabazar, Chhatak, Shantiganj, Bishwambharpur, and Sunamganj Sadar upazilas of Sunamganj district. In this operation, 4 identified militants were arrested, along with the seizure of 2 foreign pistols, 4 .22 rifles, 4 pipe guns, 1 stun gun, 6 rounds of foreign cartridges, 1 round of shotgun cartridge, 80 indigenous sound bombs, a large quantity of domestic weapons, 1500 liters of locally-made liquor, 20 bottles of foreign liquor, 11.3 kg of cannabis, and 471 yaba tablets.
