We must work together for social change and justice

Sylhet, Broadcasting News Corporation: Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Water Resources, and Information and Broadcasting, stated that everyone must work unitedly for social change and justice.

She remarked that to progress in life, one must set specific goals and maintain mutual respect. With faith and collective effort, even the impossible can be achieved.

She emphasized that everyone should enter their professional lives with a sense of responsibility toward their family, society, and the country. The Adviser made these remarks as the chief guest at the 4th Convocation of Leading University in South Surma Upazila, Sylhet, on Saturday (January 03, 2026).

Rizwana highlighted the crucial role of haors (wetlands) in maintaining environmental balance and protecting biodiversity. She urged the people of Sylhet to come forward to protect the haors and take personal responsibility for environmental conservation. To prevent noise pollution, she advised starting by refraining from honking oneself. She also requested everyone to carry jute bags when going to the market to stop the use of polythene.

Congratulating the graduates, the Adviser expressed gratitude to their teachers and parents, stating that students have reached this significant milestone due to the boundless sacrifice and love of their parents.

Students who completed their undergraduate and postgraduate degrees between 2018 and 2024 participated in the convocation. This year, degrees were conferred upon 6,193 students. For outstanding academic performance, one student was awarded the Chancellor’s Gold Medal, and four others received the Vice-Chancellor’s Gold Medal.
