Dhaka, Broadcasting News Corporation: Bangladesh Submarine Cables PLC has handed over a check of 12,540,394 Taka from its annual dividend to the Workers’ Welfare Fund of the Ministry of Labour and Employment. As per the provisions of the Bangladesh Labour Act 2006, the company provides a check equivalent to 0.5 percent of its annual dividend.<\/p>\n
On Sunday (January 4, 2026), the check was formally handed over to Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. M Sakawat Hossain, Adviser of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, at his office by Foyez Ahmed Tayyab, Senior Special Assistant in charge of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology at the Prime Minister’s Office.
\nOn this occasion, Advisor Dr. M. Sakhawat Hossain said, ‘Such initiatives by institutions for the overall welfare of workers are highly commendable. This financial assistance will play an important role in the socio-economic development of workers in both formal and informal sectors.’ He further mentioned that the funds received from this will be used to provide financial support to the families of destitute and deceased workers, scholarships for their children, and for urgent medical services.<\/p>\n
The event was attended by Dr. Md.
