The Duchess of Sussex \u2014 who has been estranged from the royal family since she and Harry stepped down as senior royals in 2020 \u2014 sent a letter asking for a private conversation with the new king, entertainment correspondent Neil Sean said in a YouTube video Saturday. Sean described a potential meeting between Markle and King Charles as \u201can opportunity to clear the air, pull the rights from wrongs and explain some of the rationale behind what they\u2019ve been doing over the last two years.\u201d There is certainly a lot to talk about: In the two years since she and Prince Harry decamped to the US, Markle has gone on the record to accuse her in-laws of racism and of failing to adequately address her mental health struggles. \u201cYou have to admire Meghan\u2019s self-belief, whatever you think,\u201d Sean added. Even so, he admitted, it is unclear if the rumored request was honored. \u201cTruthfully, we have no idea if this is going to go forward,\u201d Sean said. The Sussexes are believed to have spent the night in Windsor after Queen Elizabeth\u2019s historic funeral on Monday. They will be returning to their children, Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1, in California after almost two weeks away. Though the couple put on a united front with the other royals for the funeral, it appears that the rift caused by Markle and Harry\u2019s departure is far from healed. While Prince Harry was banned from saluting his beloved grandmother\u2019s coffin after being stripped of his military honors, Markle noticeably avoided her sister-in-law Kate Middleton, now Princess of Wales, during both the funeral and the couples\u2019 joint walkabout in Windsor on Sept. 10. The Sept. 10 event was the first time Prince Harry, Markle, Prince William and Kate \u2014 once dubbed the \u201cFab Four\u201d \u2014 were seen together in public since 2020. Over the weekend, Page Six reported that there was \u201ca lot to overcome\u201d before the two couples could ever be friends. \u201cWhen one feels good and on the other side of things, it\u2019s easier to do,\u201d a palace source said.
