Four former deputy attorney generals believe the FBI is investigating Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton\u2019s alleged securities fraud.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Broadcasting News Corporation : Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton fled his home Monday in order to avoid being served a subpoena in a lawsuit challenging the Lone Star State\u2019s potential abortion restrictions, according to an affidavit filed in federal court this week and obtained by multiple media outlets. The process server who showed up at Paxton\u2019s home in the Dallas suburb of McKinney described watching the state AG take off through the garage with his wife. \u201cI saw Mr. Paxton ran from the door inside the garage towards the rear door behind the driver\u2019s side,\u201d reads the court documents obtained by Politico. \u201cI approached the truck, and loudly called him by his name and stated that I had court documents for him,\u201d the server added. \u201cMr. Paxton ignored me and kept heading for the truck.\u201d The server added that he placed the subpoena on the floor of the garage near the truck, as Paxton and his wife, Texas State Sen. Angela Paxton, drove off. Paxton\u2019s disappearing act took place after the process server arrived at his home an hour earlier, knocked on the door and identified himself to Paxton\u2019s wife, according to The Texas Tribune. After waiting for about an hour, a black truck arrived at the home and Paxton\u2019s wife emerged from the garage, followed by the Texas attorney general. The subpoena was for Paxton to testify Tuesday at a hearing in response to a lawsuit by nonprofits that pay for Texas women to travel outside of the state to receive abortions, according to the Texas Tribune. The organizations want a federal judge to issue a preliminary injunction barring Paxton and other prosecutors from halting fundraising to cover the costs of out-of-state abortions. \u201cIt\u2019s clear that the media wants to drum up another controversy involving my work as Attorney General, so they\u2019re attacking me for having the audacity to avoid a stranger lingering outside my home and showing concern about the safety and well-being of my family,\u201d Paxton tweeted.
\nThe subpoena is far from Paxton\u2019s only legal trouble. The top prosecutor Texas is also facing criminal charges for alleged securities fraud. Separately, four former deputy attorney generals say Paxton is the subject of an FBI investigation, although the bureau has declined to comment, according to the Texas Tribune. Paxton\u2019s former staffers are suing him for abuse of power and accusing Paxton of taking bribes. Paxton has previously denied all wrongdoing and did not immediately return a request for comment by The Post. \u201cRun, Ken, run,\u201d tweeted Paxton\u2019s Democratic opponent Rochelle Garza. \u201cKen Paxton is a coward. He is running away from his felony indictments, his FBI investigation and now, nonprofits. And his wife is driving the getaway car\u2026I\u2019m running to uphold the rule of law \u2013\u2013 not run away from it.\u201d Polls show Garza slightly trailing Paxton in the solid red state, according to the Dallas Morning News.
