Former President Donald Trump said World War III could start because of Ukraine or Taiwan in an interview on WABC.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

WASHINGTON, Broadcasting news corporation : Former President Donald Trump warned Tuesday that World War III could erupt over Ukraine or Taiwan \u2014 and said Russian President Vladimir Putin\u2019s threat of unleashing nuclear weapons made this \u201ca very bad and very dangerous time.\u201d During an appearance on 77 WABC radio, Trump was asked by host John Catsimatidis what things \u201ckeep you up at night.\u201d \u201cI think more than anything else, I think we could end up in World War III and it could be all of the horrible things that took place in Ukraine,\u201d he said. \u201cLooks like it\u2019s going to happen in China with Taiwan, as you know, and you see what\u2019s going on over there.\u201d Trump also alluded to Putin\u2019s speech last week in which he vowed to \u201cuse all the means at our disposal to protect Russia and our people.\u201d \u201cI think we\u2019re at the most dangerous time maybe in, in many, many years \u2014 maybe ever \u2014 because of the power of nuclear,\u201d Trump said. \u201cFor a major nation that\u2019s equal with us on nuclear power to be throwing around the word cavalierly, like nuclear, is, is a very bad time. A very bad time for this country and a very bad and a very dangerous time for the world.\u201d Trump also agreed with Catsimatidis\u2019 suggestion that if he were still president, Putin wouldn\u2019t have invaded Ukraine earlier this year.
\n\u201cI got along with him very well. I spoke to him. I understood him,\u201d Trump said of the Russian leader. \u201cHe understood me, probably. But I understood him well, and he would have never done it.\u201d Without mentioning President Biden by name during the 20-minute, prerecorded interview, Trump also blasted last year\u2019s botched US withdrawal from Afghanistan before launching into a series of attacks. \u201cA lot of things don\u2019t make sense,\u201d he said. \u201cInflation doesn\u2019t make sense. Totally unnecessary. That was caused by oil. That was caused by energy prices. Now it\u2019s caused by everything. Now it\u2019s beyond that.\u201d Trump also said that \u201copen borders don\u2019t make sense,\u201d adding, \u201cWe have millions of people pouring into our country.\u201d \u201cWe have no idea where they\u2019re from and many of them come from prisons from lots of other countries,\u201d he said. \u201cThey\u2019re prisoners and they\u2019re, they\u2019re hardened, dangerous people.\u201d After Catsimatidis brought up the subject of fentanyl \u2014 which helped fuel a record 107,622 overdose deaths in 2021 \u2014 Trump said, \u201cI think what\u2019s happened is the number is a lot higher than that.\u201d \u201cI think it\u2019s 250,000,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd that doesn\u2019t include all the families that are just totally destroyed because of the drugs pouring through the southern border. Trump added that \u201cthe only way you\u2019re going to stop it is to have [the] death penalty for drug dealers.\u201d \u201cIf you look at countries where they have \u2014 like China, they have the death penalty \u2014 they have no drug problem,\u201d he said. \u201cSingapore, they have the death penalty. They have no drug problem. You\u2019re never gonna stop drugs unless you have the death penalty.\u201d Trump also said that New York City \u201cis not the same place\u201d it was due to rising crime, saying people are \u201cafraid to go to a restaurant. Women are afraid to put on jewelry because it\u2019s going to be stolen right off their necks.\u201d \u201cI have so many friends that don\u2019t want to go there anymore. And they\u2019re leaving New York,\u201d he told Catsimatidis, the billionaire owner of the Gristedes supermarket chain. \u201cYou\u2019re saying you\u2019re one of the people that are staying but people are leaving New York by the tens of thousands. And you have a lot of wealthy people leaving New York and they\u2019re the ones that give it the money so that it can function.\u201d At another point, Trump said he hoped that \u201cthere\u2019ll be a time when we can be proud instead of just being talking about how bad things are.\u201d \u201cBut our country has never been in a worse position than it is right now. And just look at the stock market,\u201d he said. \u201cTell your listeners to take a good look at their 401Ks, which are down in some cases 50% from what they were two years ago. So, you know, it\u2019s, it\u2019s very sad to see what\u2019s happening to our country.\u201d Trump also lashed out at state Attorney General Letitia James \u2014 who last week filed a $250 million civil fraud suit against him and his three eldest children \u2014 calling her a \u201cdisaster\u201d and blaming her for surging crime across the state. \u201cShe spends years going after me that she said, oh, I maybe misrepresented to banks, which frankly, I didn\u2019t,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd in the meantime, we have murderers going down, walking down the street. It\u2019s just horrible. She\u2019s a horror show. She\u2019s so bad. She doesn\u2019t care about violent crime. She doesn\u2019t care about anything except trying to use Trump\u2019s name to get elected.\u201d James\u2019 office didn\u2019t immediately return a request for comment.
