Latvian premier’s center-right party wins national election

HELSINKI, Broadcasting News Corporation : Latvia’s ruling center-right party won the most votes in the country’s general election, with centrist parties as the runners-up, according to results published Sunday.
According to the Associated Press (AP), over 99 percent of the votes were counted, with Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins’ New Unity party capturing 19 percent support, while the opposition Greens and Farmers Union placing second with 12.5 percent and the new centrist electoral alliance United List — made up of several regional parties — coming in third with 10.9 percent.
