Dhaka, Broadcasting News Corporation: The Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad celebrated the Great Victory Day on Tuesday (16 December 2025 AD) with due dignity, enthusiasm, and in a joyful atmosphere. On this occasion, a colourful series of events was organised at the High Commission complex. All officers and staff of the High Commission, along with their family members and expatriate Bangladeshis, participated in the programmes. The mission premises were beautifully decorated with Victory Day banners and posters.
In the morning, the High Commissioner, Md. Iqbal Hossain Khan, formally hoisted the national flag in the presence of all attendees. This was followed by the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, after which the discussion programme began. Messages from the President, the Chief Adviser, and the Foreign Affairs Adviser were read out on the occasion. Later, a documentary highlighting the significance of the Great Victory Day was screened. During the discussion session, speakers highlighted the history of Bangladesh’s মহান Liberation War and the importance of Victory Day.
In his concluding remarks, High Commissioner Md. Iqbal Hossain Khan said that 16 December is a glorious day for the Bengali nation. He paid deep tribute to all the valiant martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Liberation War, the war-wounded freedom fighters, all brave freedom fighters, the violated mothers and sisters, the families of the martyrs, and all the fighters who contributed to the independence movement, through whose sacrifices and dedication independent Bangladesh was achieved. He also expressed profound respect for the students and members of the public who were martyred and injured in the July 2024 mass uprising.
