International Migrants Day and National Expatriate Day Celebrated in Riyadh

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Broadcasting News Corporation: On Thursday (18 December 2025), the Embassy of Bangladesh in Riyadh celebrated International Migrants Day and National Expatriate Day with due respect, in the presence of Bangladeshi expatriates from all walks of life.
The Ambassador of Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia, Md. Delwar Hossain, called on people to go to Saudi Arabia with skills learned from Bangladesh and obtain certification of proficiency. He made this appeal during a discussion organized by the Bangladesh Embassy on the occasion of International Migrants Day and National Expatriate Day.
The Ambassador paid homage to the contributions of expatriates in the Bangladesh Liberation War and the mass uprising of students and the people in July 2024, as well as in other contributions, including the remittance shutdown. He later praised expatriates highly for their significant role in sending remittances through legal channels and keeping the wheels of the country’s economy running.
The ambassador stated that salaries for skilled workers in Saudi Arabia are higher and their problems are comparatively much fewer. If skilled workers are sent, the issues faced by workers in Saudi Arabia will be significantly reduced. Saudi Arabia has arranged various job categories in high demand based on skills for the future. The Saudi government is issuing skill certificates for various professions from Bangladesh. Without this certificate, obtaining a work visa in Saudi Arabia in the future will be difficult. He informed expatriates about various commendable initiatives of the interim government for the welfare of expatriates. The ambassador stated that the government is working to create employment in Bangladesh according to the skills and experience of returning expatriates, and the benefits will be seen soon.
The ambassador also stated that the 13th National Parliamentary elections and referendum will be held in Bangladesh on February 12, 2026. In respect of the long-standing demand of expatriates, the government has provided the opportunity to vote from abroad through postal ballots. Until December 25, voter registration can be done through the Postal Vote BD mobile app.
