Dhaka, Broadcasting News Corporation: With the aim of transforming Bangladesh’s investment services into an integrated and fully digital platform, today the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) jointly launched the new version of the BanglaBiz platform, BanglaBiz 2.0, on Sunday (01 February 2026). Through this initiative, Bangladesh took another step forward in creating a unified, comprehensive, and digital investment service platform for investors.

The event was attended by the Chief Guest, Lutf-e Siddiqui, Special Envoy for International Affairs of the Chief Adviser. Chaired by BIDA’s Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, the event was also graced by distinguished guests including Japan’s Ambassador Shinichi Saida, Secretary of the Local Government Division Md. Rezaul Maksud Jahedi, and JICA’s Chief Representative Tomohide Ichiguchi. Additionally, local and foreign investors were present at the event.

In his speech, Lutf-e Siddiqui said, ‘If we want to digitalize government service. At the same time, it is important to simplify unnecessary and complex processes and eliminate them wherever possible.

In his speech as a special guest at the event, Ichiguchi Tomohide, Head of JICA Bangladesh Office, said that investors have long been demanding transparent, swift, and predictable government services, and BanglaBiz is a practical and effective solution to that demand. By integrating the business registration and approval process into an online system, BanglaBiz will transform Bangladesh’s investment environment into a world-class ecosystem. He further mentioned that JICA will continue to support Bangladesh in creating an investment-friendly, transparent, and predictable business environment.

In his speech, BIDA’s Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashiq Mahmud Bin Harun said that investors need a specific timeframe, a transparent workflow, and a reliable platform to complete their work. Therefore, BanglaBiz is being developed as a multi-agency service portal, which will significantly reduce the complexities of doing business for domestic and foreign investors. He expressed gratitude for JICA’s cooperation in implementing this initiative.
Notably, through the new features added in BanglaBiz 2.0, the process of starting and managing a business has been made easier and more time-efficient for investors. Under the new ‘Business Starter Package,’ five key approvals required to start a business, such as name clearance, opening a temporary bank account, company registration, e-TIN, and trade license, can be completed through a single application. As a result, investors will be able to complete the business registration process within just three working days. In addition, more than 20 commonly used business approvals, including environmental clearance, VAT registration, factory and fire safety-related licenses, and import and export registration certificates (IRC and ERC), have been directly integrated into the BanglaBiz platform, allowing investors to manage all necessary approval processes from one place.
