Dhaka, Broadcasting News Corporation: State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat said, the Dhaka International Film Festival will enhance people to people contact from all over the world. Cultural engagements like this will eventually help our society fight against radicalization, fundamentalism and terrorism of all kinds. The 22nd Dhaka International Film Festival has been held in Dhaka from January 20th to 28th, 2024. The general theme of the festival was “Better Film, Better Audience and Better Society.” State Minister said, I recall with deep respect and gratitude the great architect of independent Bangladesh, the greatest Bangali of all time – the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. I also recall with reverence all the valiant freedom fighters and the martyrs of 71 whose infinite courage and self-sacrifices enabled us to achieve a sovereign land and independent nationhood, a sacred constitution and the red-green flag. He recalled with deep respect the martyrs of the brutal killings on the darkest night of 15 August, 1975. He memorized very inception in 1977, the Rainbow Film Society has been arranging this international film festival with a lot of passion and eagerness. Enthusiasm from the film fraternity makes this festival even more special. The mingling of young and experienced filmmakers during different sessions encouraged the exchange of ideas. International film festivals like this also ensure the exchange of views among people across cultures, which propels societies towards openness. The Dhaka International Film Festival has contributed to the development of a thriving and supportive atmosphere for our homegrown film industry as well. Subtly, this film festival has also served as a protest against prejudice in all its manifestations and harmful business practices. It attempts to foster a progressive mentality in the populace and provides room for openness in the opinions of a wider audience.
Renowned film director Mr Majid Majidi and the legendary Indian Film Artist Sharmila Tagore, Excellences, distinguished guests from different countries, participants and organizers also present the program.
