Three nominations canceled in Chapainawabganj

Ashraful Islam, Chapainawabganj Correspondent, Broadcasting News Corporation:The nomination papers of three individuals, including two candidates from the Jatiya Party, have been canceled in three constituencies of Chapainawabganj. After verifying the nomination papers on Saturday (January 3, 2026), their candidacies were canceled by the Returning Officer and District Commissioner Md. Shahadat Hossain Masud. In three constituencies, the nomination papers of 13 candidates, including those from BNP and Jamaat, were declared valid. This information was confirmed by the Returning Officer Shahadat Hossain Masud at a press briefing in the afternoon.
He said that in Chapainawabganj-1 constituency, the nomination of JP candidate Md. Afzal Hossain was canceled due to providing incorrect information in the affidavit. The nomination papers of the remaining five candidates in this constituency were declared valid. In Chapainawabganj-2 constituency, the nomination of JP candidate Khurshid Alam Bacchu was canceled for not submitting the party’s nomination original copy and the declaration of dual citizenship along with the nomination paper. The nomination papers of four candidates in this constituency were declared valid. On the other hand, in Chapainawabganj-3 constituency, the nomination of Fazlul Islam Khan was canceled due to loan default. The nomination papers of four candidates in this constituency were declared valid. The returning officer further said that the candidates whose nominations were canceled have the opportunity to appeal. They can appeal between 5 and 9 January.
