Dhaka, Broadcasting News Corporation: The White Panel (Sada Dal), an association of Dhaka University (DU) teachers who believe in Bangladeshi nationalism, paid floral tributes and offered Fateha at the graves of the Proclaimer of Independence and founder of BNP, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, and former Prime Minister Deshnetri Begum Khaleda Zia.
The program was held on Sunday morning (04 January 2026) at Zia Udyan in the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
During the event, prayers (Dua) were led by Professor ABM Siddiqur Rahman Nizami of the Arabic Department of Dhaka University.
After paying his respects, Professor Dr. Morshed Hasan Khan, Convener of the DU White Panel, said, ‘Deshnetri Begum Khaleda Zia has left us guardianless. We pray for the forgiveness of her departed soul. May Allah grant her Jannah.’
When asked about the future leadership of BNP, he stated, ‘There was no malice or hatred in Begum Khaleda Zia. She never behaved poorly with anyone. Similarly, there is no malice in Tarique Rahman. He is holding discussions with everyone and intends to govern the country by taking everyone along. We hope he will unite everyone, just as Deshnetri did, and lead the nation correctly.’
