Kathmandu, Nepal, Broadcasting News Corporation: Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Saber Hossain Chowdhury said failing to meet the 1.5-degree celsius target will result in severe consequences. G20 Nations account for 81 percent of global emissions. Real help developed countries can do is to stop the emissions. unless we de-carbonise, whatever we try to do in terms of adaptation and mitigation measures, that is not going to be enough. Environment Minister said this while speaking as the panelist in the plenary session titled ‘Ambition for 1.5 Degree Celsius’ at the International Expert Dialogue on Mountain, People and Climate held at the Chandragiri Hill Resort in Kathmandu, Nepal today. Minister Chowdhury said If one hundred percent of National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) are implemented, we would still face a 2.6-degree celsius temperature increase. Now, what we can do to limit future damage. How can we solve the problems by making the problems worse? We are growing the problem and we are talking about solutions. This discourse has to change. Minister Chowdhury’s address was a powerful call to action, urging global leaders to prioritize effective climate policies and to support vulnerable nations in their fight against climate change. Later, Minister Chowdhury met Ministers, representatives of Nepal, Bhutan and international organisations at the sidelines of the International Experts Dialogue.
