Dhaka, Broadcasting News Corporation: In accordance with item 37 of the Ministry of Public Administration’s section in the Allocation of Business Among The Different Ministries and Divisions (Schedule 1 of the Rules of Business, 1996) (Revised up to April 2017), the government has declared a one-day public holiday on December 31, 2025, through an executive order on the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. During the holiday, all government, semi-government, autonomous, semi-autonomous, and private offices will remain closed.

· Emergency services such as electricity, water, gas and other fuel services, fire services, port operations, sanitation services, telephone and internet services, postal services, and vehicles and personnel engaged in these related services will be exempt from this holiday.

· Hospitals and emergency services and personnel associated with these services will also be exempt from this holiday.

· Doctors and staff engaged in medical services, as well as vehicles and personnel carrying medicines and medical equipment, will be excluded from the scope of this holiday.

· Offices involved in emergency work will be exempt from this holiday.

· Bangladesh Bank will provide necessary instructions regarding keeping banking operations open.

· The Supreme Court will provide necessary instructions regarding court proceedings.
