Navy Chief Inspects Field Sites to Ensure Fair Elections

Dhaka, Broadcasting News Corporation: In order to conduct the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election and the 2026 Referendum freely, fairly, impartially, and peacefully, the Bangladesh Navy is serving in 24 upazilas and 2 city corporations across 17 parliamentary constituencies under the ‘In Aid to Civil Power’ initiative. In this context, on Sunday (08 February 2026), Navy Chief Admiral M. Nazmul Hasan visited Charfashion and Bhola. During the inspection, the Navy Chief observed the overall activities, security arrangements, and preparations of the naval contingents assigned to election duties on the ground.

During the visits to Charfashion and Bhola, the Navy Chief held discussions with non-military administration, law enforcement agencies, and election-related personnel. *At the discussion meeting, district administration officials, police superintendent, civil surgeon, additional district commissioners, additional district magistrates, district election officers, senior officials from various government departments at the district and upazila levels, fire service and civil defense, BIWTA, and officials from various parliamentary constituencies participated.* During the discussion, emphasis was placed on inter-institutional coordination and overall security measures to ensure that the upcoming national parliamentary elections are conducted peacefully, impartially, and properly. He called upon the Bangladesh Navy, other law enforcement agencies, and local administration, along with all relevant parties, to work in unity so that the general public can exercise their right to vote in a festive atmosphere without any fear. Instructions were given to maintain the highest vigilance to closely monitor the overall situation at polling stations, uphold law and order, and ensure the safety of voters. Additionally, during the visit, he observed the overall activities of the naval contingent on the ground and provided necessary guidance. To strengthen security in coastal and island areas, naval ships have been deployed in Bhola, Hatia, Sandwip, Cox’s Bazar, and Saint Martin’s areas, along with arrangements for a sufficient number of boats.
