Gol Kajol (45) went missing after a boat capsized while traveling for smuggling on the Padma River near the India border in the Sadar Upazila of Chapainawabganj. On Saturday (January 3, 2026) at midnight, the boat sank in the Narokhaki area of Charbagdanga Union in Sadar Upazila due to strong winds. The missing Gol Kajol is the son of the late Faroj Uddin and a former UP member from Chakpara village in Ward No. 4 of Charbagdanga Union. At that time, two others with him, Md. Hasan Ali (42) from Pathanpara village of the same union and Md. Alam (38) from Gidhni Para village, managed to swim to the shore. According to police and local sources, Gol Kajol along with two others entered the Padma River with a boat intending to smuggle. When they reached nearly 100 yards inside Bangladesh near Narokhaki, suddenly a strong storm started. At one point, the boat went out of control and capsized in the middle of the river. Two people on the boat swam to the shore, but Gol Kajol drowned in the river.
