Ashraful Islam, Chapainawabganj Correspondent, Broadcasting News Corporation: In three separate operations at the Chapainawabganj border, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB)–53 Battalion seized Indian narcotic syrup and cows.
Based on secret information, the special patrol team of BGB-53 conducted these operations from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Sunday (February 1, 2026). During the operation, 35 bottles of Indian narcotic Escaf syrup and 7 cows were seized.
According to BGB sources, the patrol team of Manoharpur BOP seized 35 bottles of Indian narcotic Escaf syrup from Gopalpur village in Durlovpur Union under Shibganj Police Station. Additionally, the patrol team of Charbagdanga BOP seized 2 cows from Raninagar village in Charbagdanga Union under Sadar Police Station, and the patrol team of Bakher Ali BOP seized 5 more cows from the char area of the Padma River in Munnapara village, Naraynpur Union under Sadar Police Station.
The seized Indian intoxicating syrup and the estimated market value of the cows is approximately 1.9 million taka. The recovered intoxicating syrup has been deposited at Shibganj Police Station and the cows at the Chapainawabganj Customs Office.

Regarding this, Lieutenant Colonel Kazi Mustafizur Rahman, PSC, Commander of Chapainawabganj Battalion (53 BGB), confirmed the authenticity of the incident and stated that the BGB is always vigilant and active in preventing smuggling and all kinds of illegal activities in the border areas. He also mentioned that, in view of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and Referendum-2026, patrolling and intelligence surveillance in the border areas have been further intensified.
