Dhaka, Broadcasting News Corporation: In preparation for the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election, the Bangladesh Navy is conducting regular operations and patrols in the areas under their responsibility to strengthen overall national security and curb crimes. In continuation of these efforts, on Saturday (07 February 2026), a contingent deployed by the Navy carried out operations at various locations and arrested 2 people along with domestic and foreign weapons and ammunition.
The naval contingent stationed in Bhola, acting on confidential information and in coordination with the Bangladesh Coast Guard and police, conducted an operation in Baliakandi area of Dhunia Union in Bhola district. During the operation, Jamal Uddin, also known as Socket Jamal, a known local terrorist, along with his close associates Selim Kazi and Md. Hasan, were arrested from a tin house adjacent to Barkandaj Jame Mosque in the area. During a search, one locally-made single-barrel pipe gun, one single-barrel firearm, 2 domestic weapons, 3 rounds of shotgun cartridges, 12 rounds of live ammunition, and one rocket parachute flare were recovered.
On the other hand, the naval contingent of Maheshkhali conducted a search at a house in the Paner Chhara area of Kalarmarchhara Union. During this time, they recovered 2 locally made single-barrel guns, 1 live cartridge, and 6 homemade weapons. After the operation, the recovered weapons, ammunition, and the detained individuals were handed over to the relevant police station for legal action.

It is worth mentioning that, to maintain the overall security and law and order situation of the country, the Navy regularly conducts operations in responsible areas to prevent drug-related, terrorist, and criminal activities. In addition, to ensure the upcoming 13th National Parliament election and referendum are conducted freely, fairly, and peacefully, more than 5,000 naval personnel are actively working in the field.
