Dhaka, Broadcasting News Corporation: In view of the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election, the Bangladesh Navy is conducting regular operations and patrols in the responsible areas to strengthen overall national security and curb crime. During the patrol activities, navy contingents carried out multiple operations at various locations, seizing a large quantity of drugs and both domestic and foreign weapons, confiscating cash, and arresting 11 individuals.

On Sunday (01 February 2026), the Khulna Sadar Navy contingent conducted an operation in the coal depot area of Khulna Sadar 6th Ghat. During the operation, searches were conducted in several suspicious houses, resulting in the arrest of five drug dealers named Russel Howlader, Akbar Talukdar, Taslima Begum, Shahnaz Begum, and Hosne Ara Begum. During this time, 1,365 pieces of yaba tablets, 1 kilogram 750 grams of cannabis, 2 smartphones, 1 button phone, 1 digital scale, and cash amounting to 237,365 Taka from drug sales were recovered. In addition, yesterday, Saturday, in multiple separate operations conducted by the naval contingents of Patharghata, Charfyan, and Taltali, more than 1 kg of yaba and cannabis, drug consumption equipment, 2 button mobiles, and cash of 27,200 Taka related to drug trafficking were seized along with 6 drug dealers.
Meanwhile, the naval contingent deployed in Teknaf district conducted an operation yesterday at the hideout of a human trafficking ring in the Jumma Para hilly area of Noakhali Para. During this operation, 1 homemade gun (long barrel), 2 homemade pistols (LG), live bullets, and cartridges were recovered from nearby bushes. After the operation, the weapons and drugs seized, along with the detained individuals, were handed over to the relevant police station to take legal action.
It is noteworthy that to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful upcoming 13th national parliamentary election and referendum, 5,000 naval personnel are actively working at the field level.
