Chief of Army Staff General Waqar-uz-Zaman, OSP, SGP, PSC was present as the Chief Guest at the 43rd Annual Commanders Conference 2024 of Regiment of Artillery at Artillery Center and School (AC&S), Halishahar, Chittagong on Monday (11 November 2024).

When the Chief of Army Staff arrived at the Artillery Center and School, he was met by the GOC, Army Training and Doctrine Command; GOC, 24 Infantry Division and Area Commander, Chittagong Area and Commandant, Artillery Center and School welcomed. In the annual captain’s conference, the Chief of Army Staff mentioned the glorious heritage of the Regiment of Artillery and its contribution to the country in the Chief Guest’s address to the Captains and other officers of the Regiment of Artillery present.

He also called on all the members of the Regiment of Artillery to be ready to face the tough challenges of the 21st century by acquiring capabilities through modern and up-to-date training. Besides, during the exchange of views with the officers of the Regiment of Artillery, the Army Chief highlighted various issues including technical development, research, professional skill enhancement and future plans of the regiment.

On the occasion, the Army Chief decorated the senior-most unit commander from the newly formed ‘Army Air Defense Corps’ with the title of soldier and cap badge. He also handed over the flag of the newly formed ‘Army Air Defense Corps’ to the Director, Ad Hoc Army Air Defense Directorate. The ceremony was attended by senior military officers of the headquarters, commanders of all artillery brigades of Bangladesh Army, captains of artillery units and media persons.

Besides, the Army Chief laid the foundation stone of the 500-bed Army Medical College Hospital, Chittagong at Khillapara, adjacent to the Bhatiari-Hathazari Link Road, Chittagong. The construction of this hospital will play a significant role in providing better medical treatment to retired army personnel and their families besides producing skilled doctors.
