Dhaka, Broadcasting News Corporation: Education Advisor Dr. C. R. Abrar said steps must be taken to modernize technical education through structural reforms and the development of new technologies.
Technical education needs to be integrated with mainstream education.

He made these remarks at a seminar titled ‘Improving the Quality of Technical Education: Possibilities and Actions in a Global Context’ at the auditorium of the International Mother Language Institute in the capital on Monday (April 28, 2025).

The advisor said, “Technical education has been neglected for a long time, in this case, technical education is being devalued and this education system is being called a factory for making mechanics. We need to get rid of such negative perceptions.”

There is a huge shortage of trade-based teachers in educational institutions. He said that many educated unemployed people are not being provided with jobs.

There are behavioral differences among students as they went through a trauma during the July Movement. Commenting that normal behavior cannot be expected from everyone, the education advisor said that in this case, they need to be encouraged to teach by explaining. The program was presided over by Dr. Kham Kabirul Islam, Secretary of the Technical and Madrasa Education Department.

Siddique Jobayer, Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Department, Nasrin Afroz, Chairman of the National Skill Development Authority, and Shoaib Ahmed Khan, Director General of the Directorate of Technical Education, were present as special guests.
