Dhaka, Broadcasting News Corporation: It has been decided to withdraw 88 forest cases filed against minor ethnic groups and local Bengalis in the Madhupur region of the Tangail Forest Division. Simultaneously, cases filed against the accused in the remaining 48 out of a total of 136 cases will be conditionally withdrawn after one year.
This decision was taken at an inter-ministerial meeting held on Thursday (December 4, 2025 AD) in Dhaka at the conference room of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, chaired by the ministry’s adviser, Syeda Rizwana Hasan. The decision was made after reviewing the cases filed against 503 individuals, including minor ethnic groups and local Bengalis, in the Madhupur forest area under the Tangail Forest Division.
