Dhaka, Broadcasting News Corporation: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Advisor Dr. Asif Nazrul has expressed hope that the country’s caretaker government system and the independence of the judiciary will remain intact even after the change of government. He believes these two fundamental reforms will remain secure and unchangeable. The advisor made these remarks at a program organized on the occasion of ‘Human Rights Day-2025’ at the Intercontinental Hotel in the capital on Wednesday (December 10, 2025).

The advisor said the caretaker government system, which is already fully protected by the Supreme Court verdict and the Supreme Court Secretariat Ordinance, which the Supreme Court itself is now the guardian of this law. These two things will never be lost.

He said that these two issues are fundamental guarantees for the advancement of human rights. Our other reforms, such as the National Human Rights Commission Ordinance and the Prevention of Disappearances Ordinance, will play a supportive role in building strong and accountable institutions. He also said that after leaving the government, he will stand by civil society in protecting these laws.

Citing the example of the Police Commission Ordinance, Dr. Nazrul said that although it has not been possible to form a 100% strong commission, it will still create positive pressure on the government as an independent institution. He also cited achievements such as speedy trial processes, expansion of legal aid, and local-level service reforms.
