Dhaka, Broadcasting News Corporation: Fisheries and Livestock Advisor, Farida Akhtar, stated that the Directorate of Fisheries must undertake more sustainable initiatives by continuing international cooperation. She also expressed hope that Bangladesh will play a more active role in international platforms, including Brazil, in the future.

The advisor made these remarks while addressing the “Terminal Workshop: Community-based Climate Resilient Fisheries and Aquaculture Development in Bangladesh” event as the chief guest, held at the InterContinental Hotel on Wednesday (10 December 2025 AD).

The Fisheries and Livestock Advisor said that while a project may have an end date, the work itself never ends. She commented that achieving project goals, evaluation, and determining subsequent steps are the true measures of real success. She stated that climate change is an ongoing crisis, and its impact is increasing daily. Carbon emissions are not decreasing because wealthy nations have failed to take effective action to reduce the use of fossil fuels. As a result, not only adaptation but also preventive measures must be pursued robustly.
