Chief Advisor exchanges greetings with representatives of the Christian community

Dhaka, Broadcasting News Corporation: He exchanged greetings with representatives of the Christian community at the State Guest House, Jamuna, on Wednesday (December 24, 2025).

Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. A. F. M. Khalid Hossain, Archbishop Bejoy N. D’Cruze, the head of the Catholic Christians in Bangladesh, Bishop Philip P. Adhikary, President of the National Christian Fellowship of Bangladesh, Dr. Benedict Alo D. Rozario, Trustee of the Christian Religious Welfare Trust, Christopher Adhikary, President of the National Council of Churches Bangladesh, and other prominent leaders of the country’s Christian community were present at the ceremony.

Rozario, Trustee of the Christian Religious Welfare Trust, Christopher Adhikary, President of the National Council of Churches Bangladesh, and other prominent leaders of the country’s Christian community were present at the ceremony.

In his welcoming speech, Archbishop Bejoy N. D’Cruze referred to Jesus Christ as universal and stated that, alongside billions of people around the world, the people of Bangladesh are also celebrating Christmas this year with great enthusiasm, upholding the noble ideals of forgiveness and service to humanity demonstrated by Jesus Christ.

Extending Christmas greetings to the Chief Adviser, Archbishop Bejoy N. D’Cruze said, “After the July mass uprising, the people placed their trust in you to rebuild Bangladesh. You have been performing that responsibility with great dedication. We pray that your efforts will be successful through a beautiful and peaceful election.

The Chief Advisor wished everyone, including the leaders present, a Merry Christmas and the upcoming New Year, saying, “You are the reflection of society. By looking at you, I can understand whether everything is okay or not.” The chief advisor said, “We want to build a healthy society. That is why the July Charter has been prepared to uphold the spirit of the mass uprising. The country will take another step forward through a referendum on this charter.”

He said that this year’s election will also include a referendum along with the parliamentary election. The parliament will then take reform measures based on the verdict given by the people in the referendum. The Chief Advisor called on religious leaders to play a role in making the public aware of the upcoming elections and referendum.

The leaders of the Christian Religious Welfare Trust specially thanked the interim government at the event for providing a grant of 25 million (2.5 crore) BDT on the occasion of Christmas. They informed that this grant is being distributed in three phases among 800 churches across the country.

Later, the Chief Adviser cut a cake with the representatives of the Christian community on the occasion of Christmas.
