Dhaka, Broadcasting News Corporation: The Pangaon Inland Container Terminal (PICT) located in West Keraniganj, Dhaka District, has officially resumed operations under the management of Switzerland-based MedLog Bangladesh Private Limited.
On Saturday morning (January 17, 2026), Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. M. Sakhawat Hossain, Advisor to the Ministries of Shipping and Labour and Employment, inaugurated the operations at the terminal premises.
During the inauguration, the Shipping Advisor said, ‘By upgrading the Pangaon Inland Container Terminal to international standards, the movement of inland containers will increase and multimodal transport connections will be further strengthened. This has opened a new horizon for the country’s port management and inland water transport.’
He further said, “The government’s main goal is to make a significant infrastructure that has been operating at a loss for a long time profitable and efficient through skilled and professional management.”
The Shipping Advisor urged Medlog to step forward for investment and expansion of operations in other domestic river ports and container terminals in the country.
In his speech as a special guest at the event, Dr. Nurunnahar Chowdhury, Secretary of the Ministry of Shipping, NDC, said that through this 22-year concession agreement, the import and export operations at Pangaon Inland Container Terminal will become more dynamic, which will have a positive impact on the national economy. This joint effort between the government and the private sector will play an important role in achieving the set targets. He thanked Medlog Bangladesh Private Limited for stepping forward with this initiative.
At the event, the Chief Guest, Rear Admiral M. Moniruzzaman, Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority, delivered a speech, and the welcome address was given by A. T. M. Anisul Millat, Managing Director of Medlog Bangladesh Private Limited. He presented the vision, modernization plan, and operational roadmap of the Pangaon Inland Container Terminal under Medlog management.
It is worth noting that the Pangaon Inland Container Terminal, built at a cost of nearly 1.55 billion taka, had faced losses for almost a decade, prompting the government to decide to operate it under efficient private management.
Following this, under the 22-year concession agreement signed last November, Medlog Bangladesh Private Limited, in partnership with the Chittagong Port Authority, has taken on the responsibility of operating, maintaining, and modernizing the Pangaon Inland Container Terminal. The company is a subsidiary of Medlog, a Switzerland-based international logistics giant.
