Rangamati, Broadcasting News Corporation: Supradip Chakma, Advisor on Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, said that the 2026 referendum has been organized with the aim of establishing a truly democratic and modern state. He said, we want to place the key to the country in the hands of the general public of Bangladesh. By using this key, people will build a state structure free of inequality and stable.

Speaking as the chief guest at an exchange of views meeting organized on Saturday (17 January 2026) in the conference room of the Rangamati District Commissioner’s office to promote the referendum and encourage voter participation, the advisor made these comments.

The advisor said that the spirit of the July popular uprising must be upheld to build this country as a unique example of human dignity, social justice, and religious harmony. This referendum is aimed at ending power struggles and ensuring a sustainable state system. He appealed to everyone present saying that the importance of the referendum must reach the common people, and that on 12 February, citizens can fulfill their aspirations by voting ‘Yes’.
Highlighting the interim government’s steps to ensure the security and transparency of the elections, Adviser Supradeep Chakma stated that the government, under the leadership of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, is working tirelessly so that voters can cast their votes in a joyful environment. For security purposes, CCTV cameras have been installed at nearly 90 percent of polling stations, and body-worn cameras have been provided to the responsible police officers.

At a meeting held under the chairmanship of Rangamati Deputy Commissioner Nazma Arafi, special guests included Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Md. Monirul Islam, District Council Chairman Agronomist Kajal Talukdar, Vice Chairman of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board Saleh Ahmed, and Senior officials of the administration along with Superintendent of Police Muhammad Abdur Raqib.

After the meeting, Adviser Supradeep Chakma inaugurated the promotion and voter awareness campaign for ‘Referendum 2026’ through an election vehicle caravan at the Rangamati Deputy Commissioner’s office premises.
