Dhaka, Broadcasting News Corporation: On Thursday (05 February 2026), Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman, SBP, OSP, SGP, PSC, visited the army camp located at the National Stadium, Gulistan, and held consultations with the civil administration on the occasion of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and Referendum-2026.
During the visit, the Army Chief held a meeting in the conference room of the National Stadium with senior military officials, officers from the Dhaka Metropolitan, divisional and district administration, and various law enforcement agencies. During the discussion, inter-institutional coordination and overall security management were addressed to ensure the upcoming national parliamentary election is conducted peacefully, impartially, and smoothly. The Army Chief emphasized carrying out responsibilities with professionalism, neutrality, discipline, patience, and citizen-friendly behavior. Additionally, he closely observed the activities of military personnel deployed under ‘In Aid to the Civil Power’ and took necessary steps.
During his visit to the capital, the General Officer Commanding, Army Training and Doctrine Command; GOC, 9th Infantry Division and Area Commander, Savar Area and Sena Sadar, along with senior military officials of the Dhaka and Savar areas, the Divisional Commissioner of Dhaka, senior officials of the civil administration and law enforcement agencies, and representatives of various media outlets were present. It is noted that, focusing on the upcoming elections, in order to strengthen inter-institutional and inter-service coordination among all organizations performing electoral duties, the Chief of Army Staff has been engaging in discussions since January 22, 2026, up to the present, with senior military officials of Dhaka, Chattogram, Comilla, Rangpur, Bogura, Barishal, Jessore, Cox’s Bazar, Sylhet, Ghatail, and Savar areas, along with officials from all divisions and district civil administrations and various law enforcement agencies.
