Sylhet, Broadcasting News Corporation: Chief Information Officer Md. Nizamul Kabir has stated that the media serves as a mirror of society. Responsible actions by media professionals on any important national issue guide the state in the right direction. Media professionals must play a significant role in the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections and referendum.
He made these remarks while delivering the keynote address as the chief guest virtually at a workshop for media professionals held on Saturday (07 February 2026) in the conference room of the Sylhet Regional Information Office, organized by the Department of Information on the occasion of the referendum and the 13th National Parliament elections.
The Chief Information Officer said that the Department of Information is undertaking and implementing extensive programs in connection with the referendum and the 13th National Parliament elections. Various awareness-raising content prepared for this purpose, including TVCs, theme songs, departmental music, and campaigns related to postal ballots, are being carried out. In addition, the Department of Information is organizing seminars, workshops, and exchange of views sessions in different departments with media professionals.
He also said that young people are extremely enthusiastic about the referendum. Everyone must work together to properly channel this enthusiasm of the youth to successfully and smoothly complete the national parliament elections and the referendum. At the same time, ordinary villagers and women must be encouraged to go to polling stations and exercise their voting rights. People have developed curiosity about what the referendum is, why it is being held, and how to vote. Therefore, the benefits of the referendum and the national parliament elections, as well as the code of conduct, must be explained to the people in a simple way.
Under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Information Officer Hasina Akter, the workshop was conducted on various topics by Additional Chief Information Officer Yakub Ali, Deputy Chief Information Officer Nasrin Jahan Lipi, and Molla Ahmad Kutubuddin. Senior Information Officer K.M.
