Ashis Chowdhury, Special correspondent, Broadcasting News Corporation: The Election Commission (EC) extended the application deadline for foreign organizations and journalists to observe the 12th Jatiya Sangsad election to 7 December as four organizations of 12 countries have so far applied till previously scheduled last date Tuesday. Election Commission’s public relations officer MD Shariful Alam said around 30 observers of four organizations representing 12 countries have so far applied. Of them, 11 from the African Electoral, four from the South Asian Development Forum, five from the International Republican Institute (IRI) of the US, and four from the European Union (EU). These numbers could increase, said Shariful.
